Young players involved with SuperSport United Soccer Schools are the most important people in our work. It is our aim to help each of them fulfil their potential, whether that be to play league/non-league football, 5-a-side with friends, weekend club, SuperSport United Team, the Premier League or to play in a World Cup Final. We offer the very best advice on training as we work to create a complete footballer. Becoming a professional footballer is no easy task, but working together we believe that a realistic chance exists to do just that.

Quite simply our aim is to change the way that football is both coached and played, we desire that the game becomes more skilful, entertaining and enjoyable both to play and watch. To do this we have to change the way that the game is coached and taught to children. We believe we have made a good start in doing this already with the introduction of the game of Futebol de Salao (FDS), the Skills Badge Challenge and SuperSport United Soccer Schools(SUSS) coaching programme, and syllabus, however there is much more work to be done!

SuperSport United Soccer Schools exists to give children from 5-15 years of age the best start in football.  All players start at SuperSport United Soccer Schools and work on their technique and ball skills, spending two-thirds of their time working with FDS and one-third with conventional football. Work with the conventional ball increases as the children get older. SuperSport United Soccer Schools exist across South Africa and are continually growing in numbers. The training ethos at SuperSport United Soccer Schools very much mirrors that of Brazil in that young players are encouraged to spend as much time as possible with the ball developing their skills. Young players spend the majority of their time working individually with the ball with a graded progression as they get older through paired work, group work and onto team play, all maintaining the core SuperSport United Soccer Schools principle of working with the ball.

Outdoor/Indoor training sessions at SuperSport United Soccer Schools are very fast and normally incorporate the use of music to maintain an exciting, progressive and enjoyable atmosphere.

We encourage our players to spend as much time as possible working with the ball, improving technical skills, far more than is the case with most training at clubs. Our young players often train with us for 10-20 hours per week as well as the work they do on their own. This may sound like a lot of time, but players are not in any danger of over-training or injury as the work is fun and focuses on the player and the ball.
